Social Media 

      What is social media? Social media became a big part of technology when smart phone were first announced in 1995. Six Degrees, the first recognizable social media site in 1997. This form of communication allowed people to upload a profile and make friends with new people, similar to most social media accounts today. In the early 2000's social media became popular. Sites like MySpace 

gained attention and growth. YouTube was released in 2005 and created a new form of communication with people online. A year later Facebook and Twitter were released. These sites still remain some of the most popular social media networks to this day. Other sites being released also gained recognition. Sites like Tumblr ,Pinterest and Spotify gained major recognition are used to this day by billions of people. Today there are so many social media networks being released and used. People are avoiding person to person contact and creating friends through social media. This allows those using these networks to expand and be more social in a way. 

Why this topic? 

      I chose this topic to research because it interests me. Social media has become a big part of everyone's life. It has also impacted the society in both negative and positive ways. Many people disagree with the thought of social media.
